Addicted

Haven't update this pity place for such a while. I miss this crappy-matters-being-recorded thing. Hehe.

By the way. Watched an awesome Chinese movie 2 days ago, "White Vengeance". It is a movie based on a famous historical event happened around 200 B.C. in China. Heroic, but I won't comment much on the plot as it runs as how it was recorded historically.

What amazed me is the main character in the movie, XiangYu. His aura is sooooooooooo powerful and strong and heroic I have the feeling that he could kill someone with his glance. No exaggerating, it's true.

Seeeee. So 霸气. I love this character so damn much. If I could go back to the old time, I would wanna marry him and be his beloved wife. Then I could die with him and rest in peace, and we would be together for eternity in another world.

Penniless doesn't keep me away from travelling

There are some things worth dying for in this dull life. One of them is travelling to heaven-on-earth places.

Top 3 photos below are taken by my cousin. They are taken in Germany.

Photos below are from Google Image. I always wonder when can I break this concrete that cages me and fly to every beautiful parts of the world.

There will be no regrets till then.

I never have to stress how romantic and must-see Eiffel Tower is. A landmark in Paris, I believe that you can breathe love around it.
People will naturally slow their pace down near Eiffel Tower and look around to witness how breath-taking the scenery is.

Someday, I will say Hi to Eiffel Tower myself and take loads of "Wow" photos with it. I swear.

Norway covered with snow. I have to taste snow someday too. Make a snowman and play a snowball fight.

Travelling is worth dying for.

Ole Sayang Nyonya Restaurant

Travel to Malacca this frequent and I realise that I never post about having any nice Nyonya food. At all. What a shame! Malacca is like the very right place to have authentic Nyonya food! If you've been to Malacca for several times (like me) and you never try Nyonya food there before, YOU'RE SUCH A LOSERRRRR!!!!! XD

Having lunch at Ole Sayang Nyonya Restaurant was not our original plan though. We were on our way to Jonker Street and Aunt wanted us to fill our stomach first (her 3 sons are forever hungry D:) So we drove to the rows of shops near Dataran Pahlawan. There are plenty of restaurants: chicken rice balls, nyonya food, western food, Oldtown, fast-food... But it is so not cool to not have any Nyonya food since we were at Malacca so... After all the parking-lot-searching we found us stopping over at this restaurant.

It is featured in a Nyonya Recipe book I read before. Wanted to try this out so much and *tadah* my wish was granted! I'm so blessed :D

It is the typical ancient Malacca building and has those traditional Nyonya touch in its architecture design. The golden words on the sign read “親切”, which means friendliness or kindness.

I love how the restaurant is decorated. Everything is so... retro? Or traditional. The paper lanterns have "Welcome" pasted on them. They remind me of those creepy paper lanterns in horror movies though ><

On the walls there are photos of ancient Chinese whom I believe to have married the Malays here and became Peranakan - Baba Nyonya. I googled a name on one of the photos and it shows that he was a Kapitan from China. That's all. End of the story. Opps no, there was no story. Just a statement. So sad... :'(

To think that I could dig out more about the history of this family (they had the same family name) but duh. Now I know how lack of information Google can be *no offence*

Looking through the menu, the first dish we ordered was of course the must-eat Ayam Pongteh. As famous as it is in Peranakan food, I believe that every Nyonya restaurant has this dish on their menu, but not every restaurant is capable of serving the best Ayam Pongteh. I was looking forward to devouring Ole Sayang's Ayam Pongteh, because it is featured in the recipe you know, it won't taste bad XP

Normal soya-cincau beverage, but the kakak who took our order said that they have a name for this drink - Michael Jackson. Hmm... I think I know why... Hahaha

Our food is all served! And it's photo-taking time before we moved our fork and spoon. Tsk tsk tsk, such photo-uploading freaks we are!

You probably noticed this on the previous photo, and yeah it's my favourite serve! It never cross my mind before that rice could be served like this! The banana leaf, when filled with the rice, gives out an aromatic smell which is similar to that of Nasi Lemak. So yummy!

This is the oh-so-famous Ayam Pongteh. SO DAMN TASTY OH MY GOD I CAN LIVE WITH THIS DISH ALONE

(Wrong angle to take this photo ><) Another must-have: Asam Pedas Fish! It is more sourish than I thought it would be, not really spicy.

And this is Cincalok Omelette . Cincalok is a Peranakan food (or more like a dipping sauce) made of fermented shrimps. Very salty. But I like it! :D

My plate. Does it look like dog's food? Hahahahaha.

It was a satisfying meal indeed! Will visit more Nyonya restaurants featured in the recipe as this first try is so damn promising! I'm sure that I can have the best Peranakan food as long as I eat according to the recipe. Hehe. Must visit Ole Sayang for real authentic Peranakan food ok! The waitresses are very friendly, and the ambience is very comfortable too, like dining in your own house! :D

Screw photo-uploads

I never get to upload a set of photos easily. It just keeps failing at 1 or 2 photos, whether it be crooked and the colour just doesn't match. Grrrrrr. I'm mad at it. Never gonna upload photos until I find out what the problem is.

Trip to (once more) Malacca

To be honest, I couldn't resist to not post anything about trips to Malacca, but since Johor is so near to Malacca I thought I'm going to visit there so often till I got nothing more to say and blog so I shouldn't post a blog about it but still... Here I am, writing a unique trip there.

What so unique about the trip? Ain't it just another 3-hours journey to a place I familiar with?

Nah. Not so boring this time. This time, Wennie, Doris and I, 3 girls, went to Malacca, driving. Like, driving our own car's driving. Wennie's car, though, Doris and her took turns to drive. Me, just sitting beside them and directing them, giving them advices like an old man. Duh. I wished that I could drive too, but... Forget about it, I don't get used to driving pedal-pushed-till-the-end-yet-couldn't-speed-up car. I'm sorry, Wennie. No offence ><

Due to the never-reach-120 kmph car speed and a real heavy rain during the middle of the journey, it took us abt 5 hours to reach Malacca, from Johor. Ya. 5 hours. I could travel to KL by bus. The long, dull journey tired me out, and I slept through the last 1 hour or so journey till we safely reach Doris' accommodation.

That's the coolest thing I've ever done. Drove to Malacca ourselves, no adults, not by bus. Hehehehoho. It would be cooler if I was driving my Innova though ._.

And the bad part travelling alone:
No spare money to spend.
Stayed till very late night (3/4 am daily) chit-chatting < bad to our liver.
Have to return by bus :((

But it was a journey filled with sweet momeries :D

Here are some photos...

The least-sweet sea coconut tongsui I've ever tasted in a restaurant.

Wennie's iced blended chocolate and my iced honey at The Jetty.

The Jetty is what the local named the place. It was previously a busy port I think, and it serves as a jetty till now. I rarely visit there during the day, so I don't know if there are ships or ferries. But at night, it's a lovely place to waste your time. A lot of couples are seen there, talking sweetly and softly with each other while enjoying the beautiful night scenery. I love the relax atmosphere there. One of my to-do wishes is to drink beer there while enjoying the cold sea breeze. Haha. So far, it hasn't being checked.

(Intended to show how lovely the place is but the photo just never being uploaded successfully)

And yeah, this blog will be (once again) filled with food :D

This is my first try of naan, a pizza-like Indian food. And it tastes HEAVENLY! I miss the taste of it... The soft cheesy smell... Arrgghh.... And the tandoori. Roasted chicken. Tastes good too but a little too salty for me ><

Aglio olio and peppermint tea (the most right) as my dinner at Station One at 1.30am. YES A.M. OMG!!!How fat is that! There gone my diet effort! The most left one is Doris' apple juice and the middle's Wennie' coffee beverage. The peppermint tea was awesome! I ate the peppermint leaves and my two dear friends were stunned. They didn't know that the herb is edible!

Wennie and I at Famous Chicken Rice Ball - it's the name of the restaurant. To be frank, not so delicious and doesn't really deserve the fame. >.<

I wanted to go to another shop but Wennie was rushing. So I dumped that thought and unwilllingly had chicken rice balls there. I'm not a big fan of the rice balls, I just miss it.

Wennie's super ordinary roasted chicken rice. She didn't even order chicken rice ball wth. Am I the only one who miss chicken rice balls?!

Wanton soup Wennie ordered. Told her that those were frozen wanton but she didn't believe. And when the dish was served to us I knew I was right. Hehe.

My Hainan chicken rice balls! Not so yummeh but... satisfied my craving. What to do....

Wennie and I at SanShuGong. A famous shop selling native goods (mostly food) and souvenirs. Went there because my dearest sister asked me to buy some food there. What a lovely sister I am :D

The decoration by the staircase.

Wennie.

Nice weather on my return day. I felt so embarrassing taking photo on the bus. As if I'm some forever lonely tourist from far. ><

Has to end this post abruptly. Will post more photos in my future blog. :D

Rest in Peace, Steve Jobs.

I'm not a fascinated fans of Steve Jobs and Apple products, but it is still a shocking news to me - that Steve Jobs died.

I'm using iPhone, and my sister just bought an iPod, while my brother is yearning to have an iPhone 5. I have yet purchase my MacBook Air, and my home's desktop computer has yet changed to an iMac, Jobs died. He didn't get to witness the launching of iPhone 5 and iPad 3 and ... many other Apple products. And he's gone, forever.

He passed away soon enough after the launching of iPhone 4S. The internet is spreading rumours that iPhone 4S means 'iPhone for Steve', and this seems to be a better excuse (for many Apple fans) that Apple launched iPhone 4S instead of iPhone 5 as expected. It sounds more like a console for themselves, in my perspective. Well, if it lets them feel better...

Stunned and sad, I wasn't able to accept the news. I got my sister's text saying "Steve Jobs passed away" and I thought she was joking =,=" I'm sorry I didn't mean it. Then I logged onto Facebook and everyone was posting the same thing. "RIP Steve Jobs" is trending (at the top of the list) on Twitter. Weibo has *currently* 30 million posts about the news. The entire world express their condolences and feelings toward his death.

The world has lost a genius and an amazing human being. He made remarkable changes throughout his life:
Firstly, he created Apple-I, introducing the world to a personal-pc era.
Secondly, he changed the industry of animation through Pixar.
Thirdly, he brought the world to a new experience of music via iPod.
Fourthly, through iPhone, he wrote a new chapter in the history of communication technology.
And fifthly, he re-defined the meaning of pc by creating iPad, refreshing the IT world.

He didn't rest even when he was suffering from cancer. He fought with it, and unfortunately, he lost the battle. It took his life away, and I really hope that the pain and misery caused by the illness were taken away from him as well. I pray that in the other world, Jobs will be healthy once again.

His contributions to the world will remain, and his glorious life will always be recited over generations. Please rest in peace, and you will be greatly missed, Steve Jobs.

Latest call with Vivian!

Chatted with Vivian, one of the best persons I've met in my life. She's the only person, besides Wennie, whom I'm able to chat on phone for over an hour. Age is not an issue at all among friends. Although I'm a year older than her, we get along very well. Sometimes I'd have the thought that she's actually an angel gifted by God. I really appreciate her as my best friend.

We talked about her having A2 in no more than 3 weeks' time. Gosh. Time passes us in the twinkling of an eye. One minute earlier I was being grumpy over the annoying Ielts Speaking Test which is around the corner, next minute I was talking on phone happily with Vivian, chatting about Mayday and *purffff* now I'm blogging lonely wts

(Opps did I mention that "Smurf" has become my latest swear-word? I think it sounds a lot better than the swear that begins with 'f'. So, wts stands for what the Smurf, and it means that I am swearing ;) )

We both are facing a lot of stress now, though not exactly similar, our stressor is technically alike - we're having tests soon. *sigh* Her trouble is having too much to study till she doesn't know what she should really concentrate on. Look back to what I experienced when I was having my A2, I have no real worries. I didn't have internet connection, I didn't have much entertainment, I didn't have enough time to study! That's why I was forcing myself to study and do practises as lot as I can. I didn't care if I can remember them all, I believed that once I really put in my whole heart to study them, I shall excel. And well, my results showed that my effort was somewhat paid off.

And now Vivian has too many distractions. She is at her cosy home, she has her laptop always playing songs and she got internet access. These modern technology products could ruin a scheduled study plan I tell you. Serious. When I'm equipped with my laptop, like now, I couldn't bother less about my Ielts. But then I get regretted end of the day, sighing that I had just wasted a good day for studying. Human! D:

That's why I think I'm in no position to encourage Vivian to study. We are one of a kind. We get carried away by entertainment easily. And we are too crazy over our favourite artistes until we have to update ourselves with their news and songs and have to load their songs and play them over and over...... Gosh. "Birds of a feather flock together" suits us best. Smurf.

We accomplished one big thing together today - we posted something to Ashin! LOL! I was so timid and was hesitating if I should post a word or two to him, like a "Hi", but I got no courage. And this Vivian Chee, as brave and dare-devil as she always is, wrote a message in English and posted it to him. Smurf! I don't know if Ashin can read English, if he does, he would probably wondering how a person uses Weibo without being able to read and type Chinese like Vivian
s case lol. That is because she has the awesomest friend (ya I'm referring to myself lolz) on earth! I was amazed by my act when I clicked 'post' on the chatbox. Smurf!!! Being influenced by her bravery, I, too messaged him. Knowing that he won't even bother to view our stupid messages didn't blow our curiousity away. We were so sampat! Haha. A great venture. Memorable lol

Only with the person whom I love, I'm able to lift my lips upward and smile. Cause' every second spent with them worth it.
